North Vancouver Museum and Archives

The children had an engaging and informative visit to the N. Van. Museum & Archives Friday.  They learned about the lives of the early settlers and their winter activities and experiences. Some of the highlights were when they saw an actual one horse sleigh (minus the horse!), had a chance to play with some old-fashioned toys, and visited a replica of an early day kitchen with a wood burning stove (they all got firsthand experience using an old-fashioned apple corer too!).

Friday's Important Fieldtrip Reminder!

Please send your child's booster seat to school with your child on Friday, November 28th for our Fieldtrip to the North Vancouver Museum and Archives.  Please stick a piece of masking tape with your child's name onto the seat for easy identification. 

Thank you to the parents who have so kindly volunteered to drive the students there and back.  We couldn't do it without your help!  As it turns out we now have just enough drivers for our trip! I know there are many parents who would love to volunteer if their work schedules would allow. I thank everyone for your wonderful support!

Help! We need two more drivers for our field trip!

Thank-you to the parents who have volunteered to help drive the children to the North Vancouver Museum and Archives (209 West 4th) on Friday, November the 28th. As it turns out, it appears that we are still in need of one or two more drivers if any other parents can help us out. The field trip is from 11:00 to 12:00 and I'm asking that drivers arrive by 10:40 in our classroom. We will be back at the school by 12:15.

If you can help us out please let me know ASAP.   Thanks very much for your help!

Field Trip Notice!

Your child will be bringing home an important  fieldtrip notice today regarding an upcoming visit to the North Vancouver Museum and Archives on Friday, November 28th.  If, for some reason,  you do not get this notice, please let me know and I'll send another one home with your child.

Harvest Project Donations

Next week (Nov. 12th to 14th), it is Division 10's turn to donate non-perishable foods to the Harvest Project to help individuals and families in need.  There will be a small bin in the classroom for drop off, or items may be dropped off directly into the Harvest basket outside the office.  Thank you.

A Poppy is to Remember

The children have been learning about Remembrance Day and what a poppy stands for....

New Words on Word Rings!

Your child is bringing home another set of ten sight words to practice today. Please review these new words with your child along with the previous ones. Once your child knows the words and if you wish to do so, you may help your child to practice spelling the words by printing them out (preferably in a short sentence format: ie. "I like red and blue."). Please keep it fun, however. Thanks for supporting your child through our reading program!

Our Hallowe'en Celebration!

The students had a great time dancing, playing games, and enjoying special treats during our Hallowe'en celebration! Thank you to all the parents who sent special food items for our party!
