New Sight Words!

Once your child knows all the words on their word ring they will receive ten more words from the next set of 45 new words. I will collect the previous sight words they now know and they simply start with the ten words from the new set as it will be building up to 45 once again. Thanks for working so hard in supporting your child's reading!

Penguins on Icebergs (on windows)!

The children had fun making their own penguins and then creating icebergs for them to stand on! Every penguin is as unique as the snowflakes they made last month....

Beatlemania Primary Music Performance!

Important Date! Thurs. February 26th:
Our class will be performing a song for students and parents under the direction of Ms. Murphy, our Music Teacher.
There will be an afternoon show for students and an evening show for parents (further details to come).

Home Reading

Five new sight words were sent home with your child Friday. Please review them daily. If your child knows all the sight words you may have your child practice trying to spell one or two of the sight words a day by having them copy the word three times then without looking trying to print/spell it on their own. This is optional, however!

Winter Tree Art!

The children practiced drawing a winter tree on their whiteboard and then used black pastel to create it on paper. They then drew a horizon line and coloured all of the sky around the tree and branches with blue pastel. They finished by shaking white tempera paint on top of their picture to create a snowstorm effect! They are enthusiastic artists!

Home Reading and Sight Words

Along with the home reading program, please continue reviewing the 40 sight words with your child each evening until they can read them all.  If your child does know all the sight words and you would like to challenge him/her, have your child copy one of the words three times and then see if he/she can print it on their own without looking (spelling practice!). Only do a few words a night and keep it fun!

Your child will be bringing home 10 more words soon!

Welcome Back and Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing holiday season with friends and family!  The children were so thrilled to be back in school again today, and they were especially pleased to see their classmates. After the initial excitement wore down, however, they soon fell back into the regular classroom routines that they know so well (thank goodness!).  I am looking forward to an exciting and rewarding second term with your children!
